SPIED2024 : Smart Solutions for Super-Aging Society
Background
“Summer Program for !nnovative Engineering Design (SP!ED) ” provides a wonderful days experience for senior college students and master course students from China, Japan, Korea and other Asian countries. This program is mainly intended for the students having engineering knowledge in Mechanical, Electronic, Information Technology fields. In order to aim the practical innovation education the students from other fields such as, Industrial design, Economics, Human Science, Nursing, human science and etc. are sincerely welcomed to attend. The students from different countries and different fields gather in one place and cross their knowledge and experiences with other participants through international team activities to learn how to create new ideas and products. SP!ED program starts with tutorial lectures by the professors from different universities in different fields to give you food of thoughts and seed for creation. The participant from different countries will be assigned to a team to begin collaborative work with others.
The 12th Summer Program for !nnovative Engineering Design (SP!ED2024 ) will be held in Yamaguchi University, Ube, Japan. Based on the successful experience of the last SP!ED2023, The SP!ED2024 is implemented in a hybrid way, online pre-course and offline main course.

Online Pre-Course:
July 31(Wed), Pre-course opening, Team making and Ice breaking
August 1 (Thu), Brainstorming
August 2-5, Teamwork (Idea generation)
August 6(Tue), 1st online presentation (Concept and Ideas)
August 7-9, Teamwork (Idea brush-up, modeling, prototype making)
Offline Main-Course:
Aug. 19(Mon) : Arriving, Onsite Registration
Aug. 20(Tue) : Opening ceremony and Orientation, Team working
Aug. 21(Wed) : 2nd presentation, Details design
Aug. 22(Thu): Private consulting, Details design, Prototyping
Aug. 23(Fri) : Prototyping, brush-up
Aug. 24(Sat): Final presentation and Closing ceremony
Aug. 25(Sun) : Culture exchange
Aug. 26(Mon): Departure
Deadline of registration
June 14, 2024: Submit the list of participants who require a visa
July 12, 2024: Submit participants’ list of each university
July 22, 2024: Each participant should complete the website registration
